Bahia Vista, Coleman & Sun Valley Elementary Schools
San Rafael City Schools’ previous Elementary School District bond measure, approved by voters in November 2002, provided significant upgrades or rebuilds to Bahia Vista Elementary, Coleman Elementary and Sun Valley Elementary. Please see below for details on the upgrades to these schools.
Given these three schools’ more recent renovations, the Board and community’s priority for parity, and the greater facility needs District-wide, the majority of funds from the November 2015 bonds are being directed to the remaining SRCS elementary schools. All schools will continue to receive facility updates as part of the District’s regular Maintenance and Operations work.
Bahia Vista Elementary
The current Bahia Vista campus was built in 2005-06 to replace the original 1966 school. There are three buildings on site, two of which are two-story buildings connected by covered walkways with stairwells and the third building is a multi purpose/cafeteria building with attached kitchen. The campus received approximately $24 million from the 2002 bond and modernization funds.
Bahia Vista received a shade structure as part of the current bond program. The project had a budget of $150,000 and is was completed in Summer 2017.
Established in 1909 and relocated to its current location in 1941, Coleman was completely rebuilt in 2004.The campus is comprised of several one-story buildings surrounding a central courtyard and the library. Parents have contributed landscaping and garden areas to enhance the campus. During the 2007-08 school year, the District’s Board approved the renovation of the school playfield, which was funded through a combination of general fund and donations from the local Parent Teacher Association. The campus received approximately $13 million from the 2002 bond and modernization funds.
Sun Valley Elementary
